GAIA, Bronze Bas-Relief Sculpture

GAIA. This cast bronze bas-relief is 6’ x 5’ and was a private commission brought to Lauren Grey Designs by a pre-eminent Chicago Interior Designer. The home is a stunning classical home in a wealthy suburb of Chicago. The only thing the family knew was that they wanted  to have a major work of art created for them. Lauren worked with them to determine the type of imagery that would be most appropriate for them. She then sketched several images and hit the mark. This earthy female figure cradling a dove of peace. This would finish as a large cast bronze bas-relief.

Then the location for the art work was selected.  A stunning imported, and irreplaceable, Travertine marble wall. To mount Gaia directly on the Travertine marble wall would be far too risky. We went through the ceiling and hung the sculpture from one of the house’s structural beams.
