Children of the World

Sm blue Child World website ready

After World Book Educational Products commissioned the monumental CHILDREN OF THE WORLD sculpture from America’s corporate sculptor Lauren Grey, they then asked Grey to create a smaller version of the sculpture. The sculptor created a limited edition of 25 pieces of this 21 inch version of the piece in cast bronze.

The company’s incentive for having this smaller version of CHILDREN OF THE WORLD created for them was that the First Lady had once again honored World Book for their work in the area of literacy. This was Ms. Bush’s interest, her passion, during her husband’s term as President of the United States.  As publisher of the World Book Encyclopedia, the company’s mission was also to promote literacy, and they maintained a close working relationship with the administration.

World Book chose this vehicle, the already beloved CHILDREN OF THE WORLD sculpture by Lauren Grey, as the perfect way to demonstrate their appreciation of Ms. Bush. The first cast was gifted to the First Lady. When the Presidential Library was built in College Station, Texas, the sculpture was installed there.
